Just back from the European Respiratory Society Congress in Milan and a very worthwhile few days catching up with old friends and colleagues and the latest research.
My impressions of Milan – lovely city with great food, wine and friendly people but it does rain a lot at this time of year.
My impressions of the Conference – despite the complex layout of the Conference Centre and mixed format of some of the sessions – it was still a very good conference with some excellent examples of innovative research including; novel biomarkers, new therapeutic targets, disease phenotyping towards personalised medicine and of course lots of sputum work – all very cutting-edge science.
What I particularly like about the ERS is that it is very inclusive and attracts researchers on the quality of their science (and for those under 40 years old membership is free).
All Abstracts will be published soon in the European Respiratory Journal.
As always and despite the layout of the Conference Centre it was still possible to meet up with many friends and colleagues and it was great to catch up with you all.
Thanks very much to Graham Clarke and Alan Bell for organising and sharing our AirBnB accommodation – it was great fun and also of course excellent company.
